the goddess BARBARA COOK--the best cover of Janis Ian's heartbreaking & beautiful STARS

This is a very hard song to top. Janis Ian's song is a masterpiece. But somehow I think Barbara Cook bests Ian. Maybe it's Cook's own story that informs the song and imbues it with such power. Whatever the case this is another example of a brilliant cover song that just slightly bests the original. This singer is like Meryl Streep......she just never does anything less than perfect.
